We collect and sell all types of jugs, including pub jugs, whisky water jugs, beer jugs and other brewery memorabilia. You can see our collection of whisky jugs, beer jugs, tobacco jugs and other items of breweriana on the following pages. Included here are advertising jugs, whisky branded ceramic jugs, jugs advertising breweries, whisky pitchers, flagons and whisky decanters. We also have a selection of drinking mugs, tankards, beer mugs and steins. These mugs often advertise beers or commemorate a bierfest or the Oktoberfest. Pub memorabilia is known as breweriana and smoking memorabilia is known as tobacciana. These advertising jugs, beer tankards and advertising ashtrays make great gifts for Fathers Day or good birthday gifts for Dad or Christmas gifts for Dad. They are also good gitfs for people with names like Arthur Bell, Johnnie Walker, John Power, John Begg and Duncan MacGregor as well as people who have the surname Haig, Dewar, Grant, Bell, Mackinlay, Mackenzie and Crawford
Whisky distilleries often use ceramic water jugs to advertise their malt whisky or their blended whisky, just as breweries use beer jugs, glassware, drinking mugs and ashtrays to advertise their beers and lagers. Many companies have a beer jug for sale advertising their beer or a whisky jug for sale advertising their Scotch, for example Bells whisky or Famous Grouse whisky will often produce a jug with their latest logo on. Over the years advertising jugs have become more and more collectable as once familiar malt and blended whiskies disappear from the shelves, or as the smaller distilleries and breweries become part of larger conglomerates. Examples of different whisky brands are Bells whisky, Glenmorangie whisky, Glenlivet whisky, Dewars whisky, Glenfiddich whisky, Talisker whisky, Teachers whisky, Famous Grouse whisky, Haig whisky, Johnnie Walker whisky and Buchanans whisky.
Scotch whisky is distilled throughout Scotland with many distilleries in the Highlands producing malt whisky and blended whisky, but there are also several distilleries in Ireland which produce Irish whiskey. These companies also produce advertising jugs to promote their Irish whiskey. Examples of these companies are Kilbeggan whiskey, Logan whiskey, Jameson whiskey & Tullamore Dew whiskey.
Many people collect breweriana these days and memorabilia relating to malt whisky, blended whisky and Irish whiskey are all in demand. Collectors also look for whisky decanters, whisky bells, brandy decanters and liqueur decanters. Also ceramic jugs advertising beer and lager and ceramic ashtrays advertising beer and lager are classed as breweriana, as are beer glasses and glassware relating to beers, lagers or scotch whisky. Alot of the brewery collectables and whisky collectables were made by well known ceramic companies such as Wade, Beswick, Royal Doulton and Seton.
Miniature Jugs
Advertising jugs are available in full size and in miniature versions, some more common than others. Miniature whisky jugs are ideal for collectors with limited amounts of space for numbers of larger items. The miniature whisky jugs tend to be less common than their bigger versions and quite often more difficult to find on the open market. These jugs are often produced by companies such as Wade Pottery, Carlton Ware ceramics, Beswick ceramics and Seton Pottery.
These items are all collectable and as the demand for water jugs, ashtrays advertising whisky, glasses, and other breweriana increases, the value of such pub memorabilia also increases. Water jugs were also used to advertise brandy, vodka, gin and liqueurs. The water jugs which are most common are those produced by Wade pottery, Seton pottery, Carlton Ware, Burleigh Ware, Beswick and Shelley and those which advertise Bells whisky, Famous Grouse whisky, Teachers whisky or Dewars whisky The jugs which advertise Paddy whiskey, Jameson whiskey and Tullamore Dew whiskey are also very collectable. Similarly beer glasses, ashtrays advertising beer and beer pumps for a brewery or a beer or lager which is no longer available also makes good memorabilia or breweriana for collectors to buy. Jugs adveritising Wards bitter, Whitbread beer, Adnams Brewery, Fullers Brewery, Shepherd Neame Brewery, Shiptons Brewery and Theakstons Brewery are all very collectable, as well as jugs advertising Tennents Lager, Carling Black Label label, Worthington Beer, Tetley Beer and Ind Coope Brewery.
We have a section on our website dedicated to collectable drinking mugs, advertsising tankards and collectable bier steins. These tankards and steins were often made to advertise beers, biers and lagers. The drinking mugs often commemorate special occasions such as the annual Octoberfest or the regular bierfest or beer festivals around the world or some drinking mugs and tankards are used to promote a beer or lager or to advertise a brewery.
Ashtrays and Tobacciana
Quite often, whisky distillers also had their brand names put onto ceramic ashtrays and other tobacciana, such as match strikers and tobacco jugs. Brands of cigarettes and cigars were often promoted with ashtrays, match strikers and tobacco advertising jugs. These have also become very collectable in their own right, not only for their links to whisky advertising, but as smoking becomes less common in public places these once familiar items of pub ceramics are fast disappearing. Tobacco jugs have also become very collectable. Tobacco advertising is now becoming less politically correct so jugs and ashtrays advertising tobacco and cigarettes are becoming harder to find. Jugs were produced by cigarette and cigar producers who advertised brands such as Benson and Hedges cigarettes, Castella Cigars, Hamlet Cigars, Lambert and Butler cigarettes, Silk Cut cgiarettes and John Player Special cigarettes
